An OO gauge fuel depot can be a compact corner scene or a larger industrial feature. Plan the footprint around your track before choosing tanks, towers and smaller details.
Choose the main structure
Compare a single tank, twin tanks and a modular tower kit according to the space available. Our modular fuel tower kit can build towers one, two or three sections high and allows up to four tanks at different heights. Read its contents carefully: photographs of finished arrangements are examples, and additional kits are sold separately.
Leave working space in the scene
Sketch where trains, roads and buildings will sit. Keep structures clear of passing rolling stock and leave access for cleaning track. A paper outline of a model’s footprint can help you decide whether the scene will feel crowded.
Add smaller details selectively
Barrels, pallets, electrical boxes and figures can give the area a purpose. Choose a few details around loading and access points rather than filling every gap. Check pack sizes so you order the quantity you need.
Check exactly what is supplied
Read the individual listing for material, finish and assembly requirements. Our diesel/fuel depot kit listing states that the illustrated ladder and fuel pipes are not included. For fuel tower extensions, compare the named accessory with the main kit before ordering. A photograph can show a completed scene with more items than one pack contains.
Plan the finish before assembly
Check whether a model is unpainted and follow the chosen paint and adhesive manufacturers’ instructions for its material. Test the finish on a spare or hidden area before working on visible surfaces.
